Lakes Homes & Program Development, Inc., prides itself on being an exceptional care provider to individuals who need our assistance. Our first clients moved in June of 1980. Our company has neatly emerged into a leading non-profit residential service in greater northern Minnesota.

Lakes Homes & Program Development, Inc., a private, non-profit corporation was established on September 29, 1977, under and in accordance with the provisions of Minnesota Statute Chapter 317, as a community based organization to provide residential and supportive living services to adults who have a primary diagnosis of developmental disabilities and associated physical, sensory, or medical disability; respite care services; and services to adults with severe and persistent mental illness.
The first two, newly constructed, multi-family homes opened in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, on Sunday, June 15, 1980.
Programs in Fergus Falls opened in 1983.
Program in Mahnomen opened in 1986.
Lakes Homes & Program Development, Inc., is governed by a nine member board of directors which is composed of three parents of family members with disabilities; three interested citizens and three professionals. Annually, the board elects a President, Vice President and a Secretary/Treasurer.
